THE DEBUT OF HORROR QUEENS
Well gang, here we are. After months of working in Eric’s basement, recording and figuring out how to use audio software and laughing and bickering and motivating one another, we’re finally ready to debut Horror Queens. It’s a great feeling to be a part of something so fun and so genuine. I couldn’t ask for a better podcast buddy than Eric, who is endlessly giving and hardworking.
I’ve always been fascinated by the horror genre. Putting characters in life-or-death situations, or forcing them to confront frightening things about their own natures or the people they love or society at large - Eric and I relish watching it, and I still scream out loud sometimes, even as a horror veteran. Directors and writers of scary movies aim to dig into the psyche of the audience and turn up monsters the viewer didn’t even realize were there, and it’s endlessly fascinating for Eric and I to talk about the creation of that which makes us afraid.
Movies in general say a great deal about the society in which they were created. And horror movies have something to say about the dark corners of our own minds. Whether they’re campy and cliché or visceral and disturbing, there’s always something for us to analyze.
So come with us. And when you see something that terrifies you, don’t look away. Switch on our podcast, and listen while the Horror Queens throw some light on that which lurks in the shadows.
